* April Featured Print
Hills and Haze Looking South. Mt. St. Helens National Monument. 1995.
11x14 Pigment Print on Rag paper.
After a long day’s climb, and a spectacular view of the volcano to the north, I was trying to take in the surrounding space from atop Mt. St. Helens. This view south looking back toward the Columbia River kept stopping me. It was so different than the complex and dramatic form behind me, that at first, I didn’t see it as a photograph. I’m glad I did, it became the back cover of my 1997 Wall Calendar, and a widely collected poster.

LECTURE SERIES
Digital Cameras Revealed

Photographer Stephen Johnson takes the audience through basic digital
camera functionality, features, controls and working procedures. The

and still be used to learn to make stronger photographs. It will
examine the diversity of features available on various cameras and
present a short primer on digital printing. Adobe’s Camera RAW
plug-in will be demonstrated. A question and answer period will
conclude the evening.

SOUTHWEST 10 DAY DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
We’re considering scheduling a 10 day roving workshop through the Southwest in Southern Utah and northern Arizona during August. Likely stops along the way include Zion, Bryce, Monument Valley, Canyonlands, Arches and Canyon deChelly.
The workshop would include archiving and printing capabilities along the way as well as critiques with digital projection of the images throughout the trip. Fee would be around $2500 with participants responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Campsite and motels will be designated along the way. A digital camera and a notebook computer would be very helpful to have along on the workshop. Enrollment will be limited to 10.
This is a pre-annoucement for newsletter subscribers. Date will be finalized in the next few weeks. Let us know of your interest. michelle@sjphoto.com
