FEATURED PRINT OFFER
May Featured Print
Summer Corn, Tyler Island. From The Great Central Valley Project.
1985.
11x14 Pigment Print on Rag paper.
This photograph continues to be one of my favorites from the
Great
Central Valley book. I was wandering through the Sacramento
Delta
and came on a whole field full of dry corn. From the color and
texture, I knew there had to be a photograph there. I stopped
the
car and just walked alongside the edge of the field until I saw
an
arrangement of line that caught my eye. The soft hues and
gentle
form fit well with my ever surer aesthetic of pastel, real
world
color.
About the Program:
Each month we offer a signed, original print, at a special
price.
This is a great opportunity to own a very affordable fine-art
photograph. Orders are taken for a 30-day period, then printed
and
shipped within two weeks after the close. When it's over, it's
over,
these prints won't be available again at this price.

LECTURE SERIES
Photographic Composition
Monday June 2, 2003, 7-9pm
What makes a good photograph? Why do we point the camera in
one
direction instead of another when the subject matter might be
very
similar? Why does a photographer take so damn long to make a
photograph? These and other such "compositional" questions will
be
discussed in this lecture on photographic composition. There will
be
no rules of composition propagated here, but explorations and
suggestions. It will be a good nuts and bolts evening for
improving
your photographs.

Admission: $15, $5 of which can be applied to any purchase
during the evening.
RSVP is required as seating is limited to 20 guests.

For the past 18 months a group of us have been putting the pieces in
place for a massive collaborative all-digital photography project
called AMERICA 24/7.
http://www.America24-7.com/
For one week (beginning May 12th and ending Sunday May 18th) 1,000
of America's top photographers (including 32 Pulitzer prize
winners), will use digital cameras to capture extraordinary
photographs of everyday ordinary life across all 50 states.
For the first time we are also opening the project up to anyone who
has a digital camera students, amateurs, and professionals. And
we're going to publish the work of the amateurs and students right
alongside of the professionals.
