Featured Photograph August 2003

About this Month's Original Photograph

Foresta Burn, Yosemite. 1994.
11x14 Pigment Print on Rag paper

In 1994, on my first weekend in the park with the digital scanning camera, I spent a few hours in Foresta, where a fire had come though a few years before. It was awash in wildflowers, and the contrast between the new life and the burned trees was quite handsome. One particular photograph stood out from that day, and I made a 27x34 inch print which I have been looking at for years. A friend and former student, Barbara Sheppard, who had purchased an 8x10 print of the photograph, came into my gallery in the late nineties, remarking how much she loved the image, particularly the deer in the photograph. I said “what deer?” and she proceeded to show me. I made the photograph, had been looking at it for years, and had never noticed the buck and doe sitting beside a tree. The power of the shear resolution of this new technology was once again driven home.

We're offering an 11x14 inch print, matted to 16x20 and ready to frame for $195, framed for an additional $75. This print at this price is offered through August 31. We'll be taking orders until then, and shipping them out by September 15th.

About the Program

Each month we offer a signed, original print, at a special price. This is a great opportunity to own a very affordable fine-art photograph. Orders are taken for a 30-day period (this print for 60 days), then printed and shipped within two weeks after the close. When it's over, it's over, these prints won't be available again at this price.
