Oaks and Lupins
Merced River near Snelling, California. 1984.
11x14 Pigment Print on Rag paper
This photograph was made on a warm spring day in the good company of my friend and colleague Robert Dawson as we were working on our "Great Central Valley Project." The hills were alive with the green of spring rains and wildflowers dotting the hillsides with the oaks. The Sierra foothills seemed alive in every way that day, even a rattlesnake followed us down an embankment. This is one of my favorite areas of the valley, a region I spent quite a bit of time exploring just after the liberation my Driver's License brought. The original is a 4x5 Vericolor negative film scanned on my original Leafscan 45 in 1992.
We're offering an 11x14 inch print, matted to 16x20 and ready to frame for $195, framed for an additional $75. This print at this price is offered through January 31. We'll be taking orders until then, and shipping them out by February 15th.
About the Program
Each month we offer a signed, original print, at a special price. This is a great opportunity to own a very affordable fine-art photograph. Orders are taken for a 30-day period, then printed and shipped within two weeks after the close. When it's over, it's over, these prints won't be available again at this price.
Tsunami Aid
We have been deeply disturbed by the catastrophic Indian Ocean Tsunami in Southeast Asia. We have to do something, and it seemed the monthly featured print program might be a way. Therefore, we will donate 100% of the monies coming to us for this month's print. Our labor and materials will be donated. The money will go to UNICEF and the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies.
